05Trust the method

How accurate is our AI scoring?

A practice estimate is only useful if you know how far to trust it. Here is exactly what we do — and what we won’t claim.

Read the method
Publishing after our first calibration round

01

How we calibrate

We compare AI estimates with trained human raters on held-out answers across all eight speaking tasks, accents and audio quality.

02

What we publish

Sample size, mean absolute error, agreement within one level, and the error by task and audio quality — updated every quarter.

03

What AI can’t judge

One answer is not your test result. Without clear audio we can’t judge pronunciation, and we never average criteria into an “official” level.

What’s free and what’s paid

Calculators and guides are always free. AI evaluations are counted in plain numbers — no subscriptions, nothing renews.

CELPIP practice FAQ

Is this the official CELPIP test?
No. CanadianEnglishTest is an independent practice site, not affiliated with Paragon Testing Enterprises, Prometric or IRCC. Our tasks follow the published CELPIP-General format and timing, and every prompt is original. Read the disclaimer.
What exactly is free?
Every calculator and guide is free. You can record one speaking answer without signing up, and you get 10 AI evaluations after verifying your email. Paid passes add more evaluations — see pricing.
How accurate is the AI score?
It is an estimate shown as a range, such as 8–9, with the evidence behind it — never a single official-looking number. We publish how we calibrate it against trained raters. How accurate is our AI scoring?
Can I practise with real CELPIP timing?
Yes. Each of the 8 speaking tasks uses the official preparation and response times, starts recording automatically when preparation ends, and stops on time. An untimed mode is there when you need it. See all 8 tasks.
Can I take a full mock test?
A 15-minute speaking mock (all 8 tasks in order) is available now. A full four-skill mock with listening and reading is on the way. Start the speaking mock.
I only have a week. Is a paid plan worth it?
Only if you are close to your target and can practise daily. Use the free evaluations first and check whether the feedback points to real problems. The one-week checklist.
What happens to my recordings?
Your audio is processed to produce your report and then discarded — we do not keep recordings. Transcripts and reports are visible only to you, and you can delete them at any time.
How does my CELPIP score affect my CRS?
Each skill is scored separately, and the lowest one also controls your skill-transferability points. That is why one skill moving from CLB 8 to 9 can add 45 points on a typical profile. CLB to CRS points.

Your next level starts with one recording.
